Common House is a social club designed for connection. More than a membership, our Houses provide an inclusive space to dine, work, and discover.

Our Story

It all started when our founders Derek Sieg, Ben Pfinsgraff, and Josh Rogers noticed the decline of the things that knit us together: bridge clubs, neighborhood associations, bowling leagues.

Inspired to fight that trend, they set out to build a common space for people to come together over food, drink and experiences. The result? A curated third space, complete with a restaurant, co-working space, rooftop lounge, and a lively slate of ongoing programming.

Today, Derek Sieg and Ben Pfinsgraff have gone on to open Houses in Richmond’s Art District (2020) and Chattanooga’s Southside (2021), in addition to our flagship location on Charlottesville’s historic Downtown Mall (2017).

As we continue to expand to mid-sized cities throughout the country, we remain true to our founders’ original vision: to create connection — through unique programming, thoughtful design, and intentionally-sourced food and beverage.

We hope you'll join us.

Our Focus

community

Our mission is simple: to be a hub for people of all backgrounds to socialize, learn, and grow. From Charlottesville to Chattanooga, we seek to truly immerse our members into the communities they call “home” — whether through our locally-sourced fare, programming with local leaders and talent, or through the space itself. Above all, our aim is to create a space in each of our communities where all are welcome, and where inclusivity is championed.

Food & Beverage

At Common House, our culinary program is centered around comfort and satisfaction — which we achieve through thoughtfully sourced ingredients, honest and careful execution, and a belief that everything should be made in-House. We rotate our menus seasonally and through local partnerships, we’re able to provide our members with the freshest and finest local ingredients.

Intentional Design

Across all locations, our goal in design is to listen to the history and the architecture of the building, and to let those elements dictate the design of its second life, in style and function. From a furniture factory in downtown Richmond to an Italian-renaissance-style YMCA in Chattanooga, each House is intentionally designed to build connections and create space for creativity and curiosity to flourish

Programming

Listen to live music, join a yoga class, sample wines of the world, learn a new skill, and much more. Common House members have access to 30+ unique "Goings On" a month, all designed to immerse members into the community and create connection.
